Email Deliverability Checklist for Small Businesses
Since 2024, Google and Yahoo require bulk senders to authenticate their email. Even small senders get better inbox placement when the basics are in place.
DNS records
One valid SPF record. DKIM signing on every sending service. A DMARC record, at least p=none, aligned with your From address. MX records pointing to your mailbox provider.
Sending habits
Only email people who asked to hear from you. Include a clear unsubscribe link in marketing mail. Remove addresses that bounce. Keep spam complaints well under 0.3%.
Branding extras
Once DMARC is at quarantine or reject, you can publish a BIMI record so supporting inboxes show your logo next to your messages.
Run the check
A free DomainGuard audit covers SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX and DNSSEC in one go and lists fixes in priority order.
